30K Service Done- Results
Just did the 30K service on my 03. Had them do an oil change, trans service, rotated tires and the front and rear dif oil change. Total: $431.00. I did the fuel filter myself. Here are my opinions on the service. Trans shifts smoother now and the temp has gone down 25 degrees. I'm sure a clean filter has something to do with that. Changing the Diferentials at 30K seeems to quick for me though. I've owned dozens of cars and have never changed the oil in a rear end. I've never had a problem with them going bad. I read a prior post that if you don't change the dif oil, metal shavings will mess up the gears. Dif gears, especially in large trucks are big and heavy duty. I don't see how some shavings would do damage to them. I could be wrong, but I don't think I will be changing the dif oil at 60K. Maybe at 100K I will think about it. Anyone else have an opinion on this?????
If towing HEAVY service diffs at 15k.If moderate at 30k.If not at all 60k to 90k.Read the owners manual.New fliud probaby lowered trans temps more then filter.Folkes wonder why the import trucks last longer. Most of them recomend diffs.service every 15k no matter how used.I also service/change the brake fliud at least every two years.
