3 wks with Jr, now shudder
Well its been 3 weeks with the Smarty Jr set on #2 Tow and I have developed a shudder on hard acceleration after lock-up around 55-65 mph. Guess Im gonna have to try #1 economy to see if it goes away, if not i will then try stock. Hopefully I can extend the life of this thing a little longer.
I was hoping the Jr would be safe for the tranny if i did not run it on #3 Performance. Dang the luck, I had just saved up for the Commander.

My truck started the same thing running Edge EZ on 4. From what I have read , it is the conveter. Just stay off the gas when pulling hard between 4th gear and lock-out, that's what I am going to try to make things last. I'll be looking for a better converter this year.
I guess you'll have to take the truck in for warranty work.
I don't really pound mine, of course this summer it will be towing the RV, but the rest of the time it's the wife's to drive. I have a Buick I use for work.
The truck is mine on the weekends sometimes. If I'm good
I figure the engine puts out 610 torque maximum, and then maybe 825 or so with the jr. (Has anybody dynoed the jr for torque?)
As long as I don't abuse the truck with the jr on it, I'm not giving it the full 800+ torque, so I'm not hurting the tranny any more than a stock truck could.
I can tell you with jr set on 70hp, the queen is getting 17.8 mpg average on winter fuel, where before she was getting 15.6. But man does the mileage go down when you mash on the 'go' button!!

I guess they are all not made the same. I mean I have taken care of mine. FLush at 10K for break in and flushed again at 30k. I do not raw hide the truck. The only time i have ever put it in a bind was getting up a hill for rental cabin with some good s curve. 4 wheel low took care of that.
