Since no one has answered, I'll give you some info that doesn't exactly relate to your question.

As you can see in my signature, mine is a 2x4 but a 2500. On a recent trip, about 1400 miles round trip, the truck averaged 22 mpg going 75 mph all the time.

It's so fun to stop for fuel at 400 miles on the tank and see the needle just a touch under half!

EDIT: I forgot to say that the milage I stated above was hand calculated.

I'm averaging 17 to 17.5 city / highway combined in So Cal. That's improved from new when it was around 15 - 16.

Running empty

Running empty (unloaded) with my AFE intake, my own torque tube type connection, no muffler-straightpiped only, crankshaft timing sensor mod, Quadzilla XZT box, running Amzoil or Mobil 1 truck (use both or either), with my toneau cover on and driving 65 mph on cruise I get lowest 21.9 highest 24.6 mpg. Average right at 23.4 or so. I have my duallies at 70 psi and my fronts at 65 psi, the toneau cover and tires are really critical to mileage. I put on 500 per week on a normal basis unless I'm out of town on business. All mine is highway mileage. 6 speed, and I drive like your grandma (in fact your grandma usually beats me accelerating) to get best mileage. I run 2 stroker oil in my diesel every other tank and also use redline injector cleaner every 5-6 tanks- that makes a difference too.
Now go ahead and tell me how there is no way I get this good mileage!

I tow my 8000 pound fiver on weekends and vacations and get 11-16 mpg at 65.

Now once in a while I give the XZT my foot and throw a little smoke just for fun, this truck really flies when I want her to. I'm going to do the timing ring to get another degree or two of advance.

I just bought this truck new this spring and only have about 7k miles on it now. I have had the memory flashed but other than that it is bone stock. I get 15 to 16 mixed driving and 10 to 11 pulling my 9k lb. TT over normal roads and 9-10 in the mountains of Colorado. Lots of folks have told me these newer models don't get the mileage the older models got. Apparently you have to install a new free flow air filter, cut out the Cat converter and put in some high dollar chip to get the good mileage numbers these trucks used to get and then your warranty is voided. Also, you are just gonna love the exhaust smell. Mine smells like a propane forklift, no nice diesel smell like my old tractors!

my 4x4 with a Bullydog Downloader on Performance, average speed being around 75mph, went 415.0 miles to 17.7 gallons of fuel. That comes out to 23 and change. I went up two 6% grades in that time, and spiked to 90mph a couple times
