285/310/315 and mileage?(more questions)
All,
My tires are almost shot, I am going to have to get some new rubber. I have been eyeballing the tire threads about taller tires.
Questions:
-After install and reprogramming speedo etc, what are you getting for a mileage increase?
-I run a 2500 Quad Cab/Long Bed, sometimes with a gooseneck, any issues as far as rubbing in front/back with loads?
-Tread: I don't need an aggressive tread, just a rugged all season. I see either highway tires or rugged off road, any recommendations on a decent "in between" kinda tire?
Thanks in advance!
Andy

I went from the stock 265s to BFG 315s and lost about 1-1.5mpg city and stayed close to the same all highway.
I went from the BG 315s to BFG 285s and gained at least 1mpg city and stayed about the same all highway.

MPG Tires Etc
Thanks for the response, I do a TON of highway driving (long commute) and would like to squeeze a few MPG and get a reasonable tire for the occasional snowstorms we have (Vermont/New Hampster winters).
THANKS!

reason that guy lost was he has a auto the guys who have manuals need taller tires I ran 315 7017 bfgs on h2s ok for a while
there are not enough options in my opinion for us havung to run a 17
I assume you r stick is a G 56 and the final drive ratio in a g 56 with 373 is thsame as a auto with 373 I put 35s on my rig and gained mpg bottom line
there are not too many options a mild tire is the nitto in a 295 70 17 33.5 tall or a lil more aggresive a toyo in the same size will help you 285s are not as tall 305s for the most part are not as tall or are very aggressive good luck

As far as tread aggessiveness, the Goodrich All Terrains may be a good compromize. They are not just a highway tread, but not overly aggressive either (certainly not a mud tire). I have them on my truck now, and they do good in snow, and I have 45,000 miles on them & expect to get another 15,000 before they are retired (no pun intended)!
