2007 breather tube

Hi Everyone,

I thought I noticed a few drips of oil on my driveway. I haven't made a serious attempt to try to trace it yet but did some research and figured it was just the breather tube. I had just had an injector replaced a 1000 miles ago but I am guessing that would only involve the valve cover and I did not see any oil lying around that. When I look for my breather tube , it does not seem to go to a bottle or just vent to the air. It appears that it goes back into the engine (block?). Anyway, was wondering if the breather tube on a 2007 does not work the same as the previous years I see people posting about on the site. The oil level seems fine so if I have a leak it is very small. Is it common for these to leak a little? (hope not)

The vent tube goes down about the middle of the motor, more toward the rear, on the drivers side. Vent is open at the oil pan level. Crawl under your truck, can't miss it. It is normal for it to drip a little or be somewhat wet looking.

I made a little aluminum "catch can" which I can drain every so often, like when I change oil. Keeps the drips off the clean cement.
I feel ya on this one. I catch hel from the little woman if the truck leaks a drop and gets her precious driveway dirty.

Is there a baffle in the tube, to prevent anything from finding it's way back in to the motor?

From what I have seen it goes through a type of filter on top of the valve cover. If you take the plastic cover off you can see it.

How about some pics. That sounds like what I need. Mine leaves spot on the driveway bad! Especially after it has been run hard or has been run on high programmer settings.

Thanks for the info - found the leak

Thank for the info guys. I have managed to obtain a 2006 Service manual so I have a clue on some of these things. I have never been much of a mechanic but I like to learn and this engine makes me want to get my hands dirty.

Anyway, I decided to crawl up under the truck and take a look around. Since I had an injector replaced (at 12000 miles or so and it took 2 weeks at the dealer - different thread) I decided to take another look around the work they did. Turns out that that I found nice fresh hot oil coming out of the back of my cylinder head cover. So , i am guessing that the dealer probably didn't get a seal on the cylinder head cover gasket or rocker housing gasket. Guess Ill take it back and show them. It was leaking all the way around the back of the head cover and then dripping down next to the firewall near the transmission. I am guessing they reused the old gaskets and managed to not get a good seal.
