2006 Transmission Question

I have 120,000 miles on my truck and lately I noticed that it shifts a little odd when I take off and when I stop. First I thought the springs plates were loose or there was a lot of backlash in my rig and pinion gears. It's neither of those things. Now I think that it's the transmission. Maybe it's jumping between gears on take off and when stopping. I just spent the last hour searching this forum and the closest thing that I can relate it to is the shutter shifting I read about. My truck is all stock and I've only had the tranny serviced once. I think it was at 60,000 miles. I just returned from a deployment and while I was away my wife drove the truck once a week to keep the fluids moving the seals wet. I live in 29 Palms and it's been over 100* lately. I haven't really towed a lot since I've been back but I usually tow 8000 to 12000 lbs about once a month.

My normal load:

Nice!!!! I want one! (the car that is)

Your a little lax on the flud change schedule. You should be changing the fluid every 30k under normal use. If you haven't changed the gov pressure solenoid and transducer its overdue. That is likely the source of your shifting issues.

Flush all the trany fluid, 16 quarts or close, new filter and adjust both sets of band, I have right around 100k and have done mine twice.

There is a TSB for a 1-2 gear hunt. Mine had it and the TSB fixed it. I did it my self and it cost about 150.00 I think.....

I also had mine rebuilt as the second gear band went out and it would just hold first gear until you let up on the accelerator pedal and then it would shif into third.

Almost as easy as changing the filter, there is one more fastener than the filter.
