How can I get a new oil pan. It now has some dents and serious scratches. There is no way the factory warranty will cover correct??? Is it true that the engine may need to be pulled to replace it??

Any info would be appreciated.

Yes the engine will need to be lifted to replace. I don't think it will have to be pulled, just depends. Fill out your sig so we know what you got! On another not.....Why should warranty pay for it? Is it a defect in craftsmanship or a faulty pan because it bent? I think you knew the answer to your own question on that part!

REMOVAL
4x4
Open the hood.
Disconnect the battery negative cables.
Remove the intake air assembly.
Remove the radiator shroud retaining bolts.
Install engine support fixture # 8534B.
Raise and support the vehicle.
WARNING: HOT OIL CAN CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

Drain the engine oil (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/LUBRICATION/OIL - STANDARD PROCEDURE).
Loosen the front engine mount bolts.
Lower the vehicle.
Use the engine support fixture #8534B to raise engine out of the front mounts.
Remove the engine oil dipstick.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove oil pan bolts, break the pan to block seal, and lower pan slightly and remove oil suction tube fasteners.
Remove oil pan and suction tube.
Remove the 2 bolts from the front of the engine block stiffener.
Remove the oil pan.
4x2
Open the hood.
Remove the negative battery cables.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the transmission oil cooler lines.
Remove the propeller shaft.
Remove the starter bolts.
Support the starter.
Remove the torque converter bolts.
Remove the exhaust hanger bolts.
Remove the gear shift cable.
Remove the wiring harness.
Remove the transmission mount.
Remove the crossover bolts.
Position the transmission jack.
Remove the bell housing bolts.
Remove the transmission.
Remove the flywheel housing bolts (8).
Remove the flex plate bolts (8).
Remove the engine oil dip stick.
Drain the oil.
Remove the steering rack bolts.
Remove the oil pan bolts.
Remove the oil pickup bolts.
Remove the oil pan.

 

I might be able to find you a pan.... a good buddy of mine buys and sells engine cores buys from yards and sells to remanufacturers he buys many 5.9's

 

Seems like another reason to go 4X4.

 

Well I accidentally went 4x4ing and got stuck sideways on a mountain road and was a little wreckless. 1 week after buying it. It's been a few months and it is not leaking and everything has been fine, so I don't think I'll change it. thanks no pan needed, apreciated though.


Thanks for the instructions, those look kind of easy. Sorry, haven't figured out the signature thing yet. '06 cummins stock automatic tranny short bed. And as far as the warranty, just being funny and thinking that they should supply an engine protection plate (just manditory on the 4x4s of course) for fourwheelin.

 

How do you accidentaly go four wheeling, I do it on purpose every chance I get.

For signature on the top of page click on

User CP

Then click on edit signature

fill it out

click on Save Signature.

if the oil pan is bent, the pickup tube underneat it could be bent and might be sucking air or causing a restriction.

I have the same problem right now and I am going to replace my pan and inspect the oil pick up tube. At Idle my truck oil pressure according to the electric gauge is dropping. I know that this is not an accurate gauge.

So becareful before you decide not to change your pan.

Mine doesn't leak either.

Does anyone know how much clearance there is with the oil pick up tube to the oil pan? Mine is dented up about 2 inches i think...

 

Why dont you post some pictures of the damage and then we can give you better answer.
