2006 Dodge Ram 3500 sitting for 2 years

Hi, I have a 2006 dodge ram 3500 truck that's been sitting for about 2 years. Had it 5 years before that with no trouble at all. But it won't start now. When I first tried to start it, the engine ran for about 30 sec, stalled, and would not start again. Tried priming and cranking many times, sometimes with starter fluid. Sometimes there is a spark of life, but it always stalls quickly. Another symptom is that the gas pedal is very sticky - you step on it, and it feels hard and won't automatically return to the idle position. I have put about 2 gallons of new diesel in an empty tank before trying all this.

I tried looking loosening the supply banjo bolt to the cp3 injector pump about 1/4 turn w/priming, and diesel squirted about a foot high, so I assume the problem is not the fuel filter or lift pump (although it probably needs a new filter anyway). I really don't want to crack the injection lines, having read bad stuff about that, but what else could it be? It won't even turn over anymore. Electrical problem seems unlikely. The cp3 pump does make a clicking sound when primed, but that's probably normal, right?
