2006 Cummins

Hey guys,
I am looking at a 2006 quadcab longbed with only 26,000 miles on it!!!!!! Are there any real issues with this year truck?? Engine or transmisson problems??? I use to have a 96 12 valve and sold that to buy my current truck which is a 2006 Ford F350 Pstroke what a mistake that was, after blown headgaskets and some other issues im ready to go back to a Cummins!! I just want to know if these trucks have any common problems that i should be aware of or look out for before buying! Thanks in advance for all responses!

Nothing we haven't solved already!

Good truck. Search the forum and you'll know more than Dodge does about them....

How much money for the low mileage truck anyway????

I have had virtually NO problems with my 2006 other than the usuals that happened early in the warranty period like everyone else. The only issue that has been nagging some is the center carrier bearing, I have solved it by going from a two-piece driveshaft to a one-piece driveshaft.

I have been truly satisfied with my 2006, would look for another one vrs buying a new one.

I have 41k on mine.

The only big issue was having the trans rebuilt, just before 36k mile warranty ran out. I figure if I have to get into the trans now, I'll go with goerend or DTT.

There is a small hose, under the exhaust manifold that is known to leak a little. Some dealers have fixed it by tightening the hose clamps, others have replaced the hose.

I anticipate enjoying my truck for another 7-10 years.

Unless you just want an 06. From what I found..An 07 5.9 with about 32k miles can be had for about the same $

If I remember correctly, the engine has a 72k warranty and the remainder is 36k. I like my truck as good or better than any I have ever owned including Chevys, Fords and Dodges. I was thinking about getting a 2010 but I like mine well enough that I think I will keep it a few more years.

The only problem I had was the MP3 plug in the radio came loose when the truck was about two months old and the dealer replaced the whole radio. Other then that absolutely no problems with my '06.

36K basic warranty,100K extended warranty if you want to pay for it.
100K engine/fuel system.

I opted NOT to pay for the extended on the chassis/drivetrain.

Only your engine has a 5/100,000 warranty. In mid 2006 Ford started giving a 5/60,000 on the powertrain along with 5/100,000 on the engine.

Ouch. There has to be better deals than that out there! I paid $34,500 for mine brand new on the showroom floor! It was December of 06, so it was technically a left-over, but still.... $34,000 used? They aren't doing you any favors.....

I think you could find one cheeper than that. I bought mine 2 years ago with only 17K miles for $30,000. Mine had the leaking hose under the manifold I just tightened the hose clamp and has never leaked since. No problems at all and the truck has had a programmer since 20,000 miles it now has 40,000.
