I went out to start my 2006 with the 5.9 Cummins this morning but ran into a problem. The truck starts and runs for 1 - 2 seconds and then dies. After it dies you can turn the key off and then restart the truck and it will again run for 1 - 2 seconds before it dies. Has anyone experienced something similar and if so what was causing this problem?

When it dies is the red security light flashing on the cluster?

Have you tried your other factory key?

 

Sounds like a lift pump. Do you have a FP guage? Could also be a sentry key problem... what kind of key do you have? Regular, or Fob built in?
