I have 20k on my 06 now and have not had one problem. I get 18+ on the highway and 15 in town. Interior is laid out better but the fake wood is really fake and my gray interior has just to much gray for me. Tranny is fine haven't had any problems yet... but I am not a fan of how the shift points are setup.

Pros... Big power, New front frame design, Better looking headlights (to me), Nice dash layout, did I mention the power???

Cons... stock tranny is just that... STOCK, seats stain, wood looks like crap, thats it to me.

Seems like you'd be paying so much for a low mileage '06 that you could almost justify a few extra K to get a new 5.9 '07 or is that wrong?

Anyhow, you should try out a manual trans on one of these new '06 or '07. When I had some accessories put on the guy that pulled it into the shop told me he'd driven lots of diesel trucks Fords, Dodges, Chevys but never a new one like mine and that he'd never seen one with a clutch so easy to mash. The guy in the tire shop said the same thing.

For a comparison as to how easy it is to push in, my grandparents have a 5 speed manual '91 Honda Accord and the clutch on my truck mashes in as smooth and easy as it does on the rice burner. I would assume all Jap cars have clutches that are easy to depress like this. Most of the ones I've driven have.

So before you dismiss a manual out of hand Buckshot you might want to give one a test drive just to see how easy the pedal depresses.

Look @ the 07 with the 5.9-L then. I quit buying used vehicle`s because I found new trucks for close to the price of used.
It`s easier to finance new and you get a better rate. That`s my .02 cents...Good Luck.

My 6 speed with stock clutch holds Smarty on #5 ... That goes ral good.

I have it on #7 but don't thrash it at low rpm. SBC makes a clutch that works :-)

[QUOTE=morkable;1318615]my 03 is well over 25 mpg,, (mind you that is with an imperial gallon, not sure how that relates to a us gallon) The only bad thing that I have heard about the 06's was the tranny

Kevin[QUOTE]

What is bad about the tranny? It is the exact same trans as every other year, except this year it has a od lockout feature that wasn't on the 05's. And this yr it can take an exhaust brake.

I keep my TST down on 3-3. It works great. The trans has no issue`s with this setting with about 4K miles and hard driving. You know smoking rice ETC. After I up-grade my T/C and V/B, I`ll bump it up and see what she`s got. Until that time ,it`s self control. Don`t need to smoke my trans.

I know this is out of your way but this dealer has a bunch of new 06's left in varying colors and they discounted me 10k right off the bat. Not all are CTD

-2007
-CTD with 6 speed
-Inferno Red
-Bighorn package
-Sticker price $38,000 + $3000 in rebates

Whatcha guys think?

Thanks for all the help thus far.

Here is an 06 under $33,500 with only 174 miles.

I bought my 06 on ebay earlier this month from Texas Direct Auto cost $32K plus $800 to get it to my front door in Norcal.

Thanks Scott! It's an auto and I've decided to go with a 6 speed, in Inferno red. I've never been crazy about a white vehicle, just blah.
