2005 puking out coolant?
2005 puking out coolant?
Hey guys, snuck over here to the 3rd gen forum to ask a question for a buddy of mine. He just bought a used 2005, auto with 6?,000 on the clock. The former owner of the truck used it to tow a landscaping trailer and to plow snow in the winter. The truck ran great for the first month or so and then he started having some issues with the truck "idling up" on him? He said he would have to put the truck in neutral at stop signs or it would try to push him through the intersection. I'm a 12valve guy so I had no idea what he was talking about
. After that, the truck would overheat every now and then, but it wasn't consistent. He took it to the dealer (still under warranty), and they told him it was an issue with the transmission. (?) They kept the truck for a week, said they consulted the folks at Chrysler quite a few times and they came up with nothing. The dealer then told him there was nothing more they could do for him and that he should take it to another dealership that "specializes" in diesels. Needless to say, he wasn't too happy about that. The other day he drove the truck to work (empty, no heavy throttle or drag racing), and as he was walking away from the truck he heard a noise, turned around and watched the truck barf every last bit of coolant out of the radiator/overflow. The first thing I thought about was the head gasket, but I don't think there was any evidence of cross contamination with the oil. I know the details are a little hazy, but has anyone ever had a similar issue with a 3rd gen. truck? He's taking it to another dealer to have them check it out, but it would be nice to at least have an idea of what he should tell them when he goes in this time. If anyone has any ideas, they are greatly appreciated.

only part that was familiar with mine was when my truck was overheating @ about 232 or more degree's it would idle high and in neutral it would idle @ 11 or 1200 rpm's when hot.
maybe its to spin the coolant fan faster is the only thing i could figure???
