2004 305/555 2500 Ram CTD need to replace muffler. NAPA and the other local parts shops don't carry it. Is this a dealer only part or does anyone know where to get a replacement?

If you want a stock muffler just ask around on here. A lot of guys took them off and might sell it to you for shipping costs.

If you want aftermarket a lot of them aren't much louder than stock and offer lower back-pressure lowering EGTs.

 

Go to a Big Truck Shop where they sell parts for Big Rigs ask for a Straight thru Muffler. Mine is a Mack Muffler 4" in 4" out. Cost about $50.

 

When I took mine off I left it in our driveway out back of the house- it sat there for three weeks before someone carried it away. I think they took it because it was an eyesore!

 

just curius, it might run bad due to baffling inside but has anyone ever heard a ctd with a flowmaster muffler? Theres nothing that sounds better than one on a gas motor, As i know the benifit of the turbo being unrestricted, mines straight piped, but its still prob. better than the huge stocker. Just a thought with all that compression, and exh. flow from the turbo it might sound killer with a 4" in 4" out single chamber or old 40 series flowmaster.
