2004.5 vibration
I have this vibration. I would like to say it is RPM related. If you get your truck into the 18-2200 range this vibration is there. I was always through that range quick so I didn't notice until the dealer went for a ride with me! Dealer took the front drive shaft out and squished the front drive shaft imbalance idea. Could still be the rear.

I'm happy to report they solved the problem. They experimented by taping weights onto the rear driveshaft and running the truck at speed while on the lift. By shifting the weights around, they were able to eliminate most of the vibration. They then sent the driveshaft off to be balanced, but when it hadn't been done by 5pm, and I reminded them of their promise to get it fixed ASAP, they just put an entirely new driveshaft on the truck. They also balanced the right rear wheel, which they were suspicious of from the start, as it had no weights on it.
Now I just feel the slightest bit of drone at about 78-80mph, but nothing like it was before. The steering wheel and pedals no longer vibrate, my wife doesn't comment that it feels just like riding the Harley, and the whole truck feels tighter and smoother. If I can get just my fuel mileage up just a little, (15.5 mpg average thru 600 miles), I'll be a totally happy camper.
For those of you experiencing similar vibration problems, don't just accept it, take it to the Dealer and make them figure it out. We all paid pretty good sums of money for these vehicles, we deserve to have them perform as expected.

Guys- I reported this problem/solution weeks ago. Mine did the same thing - got the roving tech involved and got it fixed.
Truck: 04.5 SWB Auto 4x4 - Jan 04 build date
Problem: Vibration/drone at 68-70 MPH
Solution: Replaced rear driveshaft - 50% better. Replaced transfercase 100% better.
You have stay on your service managers - tell them what the fix is.

I just started noticing a vibration on mine. Note that I have a Kalifornia SO with the 5 sp manual (only manual available last year for the Kali version) so it's not just 48REs that have vibration. Mine isn't real bad, but plainly evident through the steering wheel and gear shift around 67-68 MPH (1800 - 1900 RPM). Since I have 18K miles on it now I suppose my vibration could be a lot of things but I haven't made any changes recently and i don't remember any vibration earlier. I'm going to rotate my tires to see if that makes any difference.

Took mine to the dealership, told them of the problem.
They rebalancedl my tires(I just paid $70 to have a complete road force balance done) so they messed that all up and then told me they can't find any vibrations so Here you go.
I discussed "afacey's" solution, they laghed at me...
Told me they wern't gonna just go replacing parts 'cause I read about it on some forum. I don't have the money to back it up if it don't fix it so I hung my head low and walked away.
I sure hate having this problem with a brand new truck
On the plus side, I changed the fuel filter at 9K miles and I think it has a little better throttle responce...

same - O - same - O
I told them basically as you did and got the same reaction. In my past life I was a Fortune 500 Customer Service Manager and all that says is that I know and will take all means necessary to achieve a response to resolve my problem. I most recently have contacted the DCX area service manager and passed the problem to him and he is taking action. Further I have discovered that a team has been formed at DCX to resolve the problem. I was told probably a couple more weeks. When I know I will post the TSB and you simply give it to your arrogant all knowing dealer and they will know where to go to resolve your problem. Hope this helps.
If the TSB on Hydro boost hose HAS not been done it vibrates and drones!! See if a big C/weight is on the Hydro Boost hose(powersteering) and if not it needs that updated hose.If its not on there the drone and vibration can be played in neutral like a musical instrument.Any of the REALLY smart dealer service depts should have THIS site as WELL as some other KNOWN sites up on their in house computer.I have seen D.C. techs post on one of them trying to fix problems instead of criticize.
Highway Vibration Fixed
It has taken six months, ten service trips and countless hours on the phone with Dodge , American Axle and different dealers but heres what has taken the vibration away at expressway speeds.
Its the very first thing I told them when I took it in for the first time. The transfer case. I have had four rear driveshafts in, one front shaft and a new rear ring, pinion, bearings and now the transfer case. This has taken the vibration out about 95%. There still is a slight vibration when you are under throttle till you reach your maitained highway speed then it subsides. This I believe is still the rear driveshaft but when they come out with a larger dampner on the shaft I think it will be gone also. If you can move the dampner on the driveshaft (where it slips on to the transfer case tailshaft ) up about a 1/8 to a 1/4 inch by hitting it with your palm of your hand its too sloppy. This is the second truck this engineer has replaced the transfer case on and on both trucks it has solved the vibration. It took a lot of complaining at the dealer level before the Dodge engineer got invloved. But now Im almost vibration free and this truck is great.
