2004.5 Dodge DRW Axle Nut Key (holds outer bearing) Size?
2004.5 Dodge DRW Axle Nut Key (holds outer bearing) Size?
Hey all, I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 DRW.
I just recently replaced Rear Rotors and Pads due to them rotting through the cooling fins. I did all necessary steps besides checking and doing anything with the parking break for starters. I also didn't lube up the inside very good before reinstalling any of the bearings or axle shaft, as I figured the oil would come out from the differential soon enough as it's supposed to.
As I was driving down the road with a trailer, the rear passenger side locked up and skidded me off the road into a nice guys yard which he said I could stay there until I fix it. I figured it was the caliper not releasing pressure, but I removed the brake line and caliper with easy and put the tire back on to try and turn it.. NO LUCk.
Pulled out the axle ruined the gasket .. ONCE AGAIN
. It has some pressure on it when I pulled it out and wanted to slip backwards?
I guess I backed on the nut that holds the Outer bearing in place and keeps the rotor and spacer from coming off the axle TOO MUCH, I am having a hard time getting it to budge. I have tried using the Adjustable Face Spinner Tool ; no help, just kept slipping when I gave it all I had. I tried a large screw drive and ball point hammer; NO LUCK, just kept denting into the nut and not spinning it or breaking it free. (Yes I removed the key and snap ring). So my last option is to find out the correct size of this Face Spinning Nut so I could get the correct wrench size to throw in it and beat it with a hammer.
I'm down to it being the bearings are F"d the F up or the parking brake is engaged and won't disengage.
But, I can't find out till I am able to pull the outer bearing out with the face spinner nut. To check which it is.
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
