2004 305 555 High Idle Done

Hi All

I just had the adjustable high idle feature activated on my 2004 305 555 auto.
Works quite nice.
Just told the dealer the truck took a long time to warm up...they did the reflash for free.
Also the truck seems to run better overall...maybe they did an update on the whole ECM at the time.
Quite pleased.

Do you know if the 03 manual has the high idle feature available? If it does you migh try activating it and grounding the PTO pin on the ECU\ECM\PCM connector. Works on the 05 manual trucks. Just be careful about leaving it in gear and activating it.

I also had mine activated on my 05 auto.. I just brought the owners manual in showed them the page and they did it for free.. for Xmas I also got the Block heater cord and installed it.. Now I just need cold weather..

There is another post floating around here somewhere about enabling the high Idle on a manual trans. Apparently it can be done but you have to purchase a special clutch switch and cable, then the computer will allow you to activate the high idle. It allows the high idle to shut down when the clutch pedal is depressed same as it shuts down when the brake is depressed.

Do a search on high idle and it was somehwere in the middle of the replys.

here is the post you want https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...nual+high+idle

you don't have to have the clutch switch, it's just an added safety, high idle will disengage whenever the brake is depressed or the vehicle starts to move, just like the autos do.

I have an early '04 305/555 and have grounded the #22 pin on the B connector of the ECM. Now I just need to find out how to have the option enabled. I spent a few minutes looking around on a DRB and could not find the high idle option. If anyone knows how to enable the high idle please post so we can all benefit. Thanks in advance.

Also -- you mentioned pin 22 on the ECM, but Stateline's post on the other tread says pin 22 on the PCM. Which is correct?

Thanks!

sorry if I mis-typed, I think it's the ECM, it is the rear most connector on the left side of the engine, 50 pins total starting at top left and counting left to right, this makes #22 second in from left 3rd row down. hope this clarifies
