2003 High Idle Revisited
2003 High Idle Revisited
As my post count will show, I spend most of my time reading rather than posting. Doing so though has found me completly confused in regards to the "Can I have my 2003 High Output motor flashed for the cruise control activated High Idle?" I myself own a 2003 High Output vehicle and figured I would spark this discussion once again since more 2003 owners might have tried different options.
My vehicle has a date of Maufacture of 5/03
My engine build date is 5/1/03 with serial number of 5704XXX6. (3 didgits deleted since I don't know what could be done if the serial number got into the wrong hands and a warranty claim was made... no offense to anyone on this board by any means.)
TSB 18-004-04 - Flash: Poor Cab Heat and/or Slow Engine Warm Up in Cold Ambient Temperatures
If you reference TSB 18-004-04 it states the following: "This bulletin applies to DR vehicles equipped with a 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine (sales code ETC or ETH) and an automatic transmission, with an engine serial number **57130284** or earlier (Fig. 1); and the engine date of manufacture on or before **December 10, 2003**."
As you can see, according to the statement in the bulletin my "2003" model year falls well within the limits of this TSB, which people often say is for "2004" model year and later vehicles only. Also note that I took the information directly off the TSB that is avaliable to the dealers and not off of dodgeram.org. I did this since it would be what the dealer would read if you had them look it up for you.
So with all that rambling said, what does everyone else think. Is there any 2003 owners that had the flash done and did it work/not work, or any service tech's out there that CAN SAY with 100% that it will/will not work?

Sorry only works on 04's, so the s/n's listed in the TSB only applies to MY 04. Other guys w/ 03's have tried and it doesn't work. Apparently something with the ECM's was changed going to the 04's to make it work.
