2 micron fuel filter question

I was strongly considering to put a secondary fuel filter into my truck and possibly a fuel/water separator.

I asked the service manager at the local dealership if this would cause me warranty problems if something were to happen to the injectors in the future. Would they void my warranty because I've added extra filters.

He said: Not unless that they determined the additional filter to be the cause of the problem.

I didnt care for that answer because it seems like they could possibly use it as an "out".

So my questions to you guys,

Anyone ever had warranty denied for putting an extra fuel filter or even an oil bypass?

Also, where I live it gets really cold and windy in the winter. Been -50 degrees with the wind a few times in the past. Will the rate of the cold diesel passing through a 2 micron cause any problems? Like starving the injectors or gelling in the filter?

Thanks for your help

As far as the dealer.....all the dealers I've talked to said it would be beneficial to add and they would not deny my warranty, not at all. As far as the cold. I have a 2 micron filter and it has been in -30 several times. It flows just fine. Have not noticed any decrease in fuel pressure. It flows just as good as 30 above…..as long as you use a good additive!! Wont have any problems.

A warranty is only ever void by Dodge if they can prove the after market part caused the failure or damage.

Yeah, I think most dealers are hesitant to say it would not alter warranty, because as soon as you say that someone will bring in a truck with a sliver of rubber hose in the injector or something.

I've got one of the GDP 2 micron filters on the intake horn, and have had no problem. I liked the idea of having it under the hood, and retaining the stock canister as a prefilter, and for the fuel heater and water separator.

A good friend bought my 03 and later had an injector go bad, which motivated me to add the 2 micron.

The only risk would be if you didn't maintain it. I check the pressure at the CP3 to make sure there is enough psi there. I kept the OEM filter for a prefilter and water trap and put a 2 mic ahead of the CP3. I built my base out of SS and went to a Parker Store for the rest. I mounted the filter behind the lt. driving lite but I'd rather have it behind the radiator, in cold weather.I have the Parker pt#s if you need them. Craig
