1st tow with II SPS62/14

Well, this weekend was the first tow with the new turbo. WOW. egts are down, power is up. I will say that with low rpm, high gear, it is laggy. once it hits about 18-20 psi, she lights off and the egt's start to come down. my max was 1200*, that was in 6th gear, pulling a good sized hill, with 10k behind me. All of the towing was done with the Quad race at the 60 HP setting. With the factory turbo, i would have to immediately go to 30 hp and eventually off, then start to back off of the pedal, and go to 5th. NOT ANYMORE! the only downside is the lag, and the stock and 30 hp setting will not spool the turbo. I have to make a note to self; dont tow with the quad on max, in 6th while trying to outpull a PSD. the clutch will slip as soon as there is boost.

All in all I am VERY glad I did the turbo upgrade, even though it will cost me the price of a south bend clutch.

You might consider the ATS exhaust manifold. I did it and an II62/12 at the same time and spool is about the same as stock.

i will wait for the factory manifold to crack, then upgrade. the wife is really watching me now.

A 62/12 is smaller than a 62/14 and will spool faster, almost closer to stock. the 14 isnt bad, just noticable. without the trailer it gets going in a hurry, just a little slower with the trailer. in traffic the lag is where you feel it. on the freeway already doing 60mph, there is none, she just goes.

Glad to hear your review.

I am no expert but I would assume once you get your clutch, you could pull with the quad on 100 and it would spool better.

From what I have read if you really want it to spool a tst mp8 combo would work but a cheaper rought may be to just get a downloader, I bet the smarty would lite that thing pretty quick.

What kind of question is that? Of course I did. you should be banned from this site for asking such a thing.

He had been speeding up and down going through town(highway 12 east out of Hoquiam,WA) trying to get my attention. His A-pillar had a slew of gauges, dual pipes, about a 27' TT in tow. we were side by side exiting town, traffic clears and goodbye PSD. The clutch slipped so I got off of the pedal, turned down the quad, got back into it, and just drove away.
