1st gen wheels on a 3rd gen

My dad might be giving me some off road tires that are mounted on 1st gen 16 inch wheels. I've got a 1st gen and 3rd gen and would like to be able to throw the set on either truck wheels and all if I needed to.

Not going to work. The rims won't clear the calipers.

Turns out they're military tires on 16.5" rims, not stock. Don't know if that makes a difference.

As First Sergeant Morton mentioned, it will be close. So close, it will require you to grind the calipers to get them to spin freely. In addition, inboard mounted wheel weights may not clear.

The pics are bad, but I measure 1/4 inch at the closest point from my 17s...

Just my opinion... I'd have a hard time shaving anything off the calipers or rims. I'm just thinking about a failure of my brakes on a 7k pound truck... what's it worth?

I agree! The thought of shaving the calipers would be a show stopper in my opinion.

I appreciate that. At the end of the day, I won't be able to resist just trying to stick a rim on and see for myself. I'm actually in SC for the holidays ... not far from you. I drove the goat to Charleston.

You never know what the dimensions of the rims are until you try!

Charleston is great... I love me some she crab soup! I was stationed down in Beaufort for a few years, that's a hidden gem as well!

Seeing we're on wheel size. I have a 2005 ram3500 dually 2 wheel drive. I'am wondering if a set of Rickson 19.5/245/85 will fit my truck without rubbing?

My 33s rub a little at full lock. It's not bad enough to worry about. I've had 37s on stock rims and right height. It was rough, but it worked.
