1400to1600 accel. vib.
1400to1600 accel. vib.
I am new to dodge but i own 5 trucks w diesels some 466s some cats so i am used to idle vib and noise. the vib that has started to show up in this truck, around 3000mi or when kore leveler was installed , is different from that and from the 70 mph vib that i hear about.it begins under accel in 5th and 6th gear under light to med accel around 1400 to 1600 rpm , vib . (ie ) foot pedal, floor, seat and seat back all shake. after 1600rpm all is smooth up to 75 -85mph . is this normal? did not vib like this when new. drove another new truck just like it , no vib. this vib is also worse when lugging around thos rpms or towing. the truck was at the dealer they said that this was just " the beast" but next time they would check pinion angles from the 1. 5 to 2 in. kore system. could this be the issue? Other than this i love this dodge , was a ford guy for 20 years . cant beat the power , braking ,size , sharp turning and comfort of this great truck. Thanks for any feedback on this.
I don't know what a kore leveler is, but if you raised the height of the truck that is more than likely your problem. You will probably need to adjust your pinion angle or lower your center bearing hanger, I believe they make a number of different spacers for adjusting the center hanger.
eb 290 , Kore is a company that makes suspension products, This product happens to be a leveling kit and a new spring pac for the rear to replace the factory one . the rear end hight has not changed at all with the kit and the shocks The truck hight came up 2 in. total , I dont know if that is enough to change angles that much, front or rear . Some guys are putting 4 in. kits on with no vib. This vib also seems to be rpm related at 1500 to 1600 and not as much speed related? thanks all .
I have an 04.5 with the same vib; however, I have an auto and it's only noticeable when the troque converter locks up (around 50 mph, so comparable to your manula in the same RPM range) and the r's drop to around 1500.
I believe the vibration is caused by poor engineering concerning the rear driveline. Specifically, the location of the carrier bearing (I have a quad cab long box) and angles imposed on some or all of the u-joints in the rear driveshafts.
Mine became noticable when the dealer "fixed" the shudder on take off problem (problem with the rear driveline angles causing a shudder when taking off from a standing start). They adjusted the height and angle of the carrier bearing and thus the angles seen by the U-joints. The shudder almost completely went away BUT the vibration at TC lockup in the 50 - 60 MPH range became prevalent and very noticeable. I dont think there is a fix or tsb for this problem.
When mine goes in for a DTC (trouble code) in April I'll have them look at it and post results here.
Good luck.
