10k miles and tranny is leaking

Just noticed yesterday that the truck could not handle the pressure and started leaking trans fluid. I have been off work for the holidays and have been cruising in my civic which runs way better than these dodge trucks everr could. So the truck that has been sitting in the driveway for a week just started leaking tranny fluid. I will probably check fluid level and drive around the block a few times then check fluid to determine if it is ok to drive to the dealer rather than a tow. So then back to the dealer and going through the whole holding their hand process to make sure they don't mess up my new truck. Wow these trucks are a peach. Thank god I have the honda also. Keep yall posted.

You need to make sure it is tranny fluid and not coolant. These trucks are known to have a hose clamp that comes loose. The clamp is located between the exhaust pipe and the engine. Actually it is a fitting with two hose clamps.

If the tranny is leakiing it is not much. Leaks are common on the front band adjustment screw. Fluid will wick out via the treads. Not really a big deal.

I agree - I wouldn't freak unless it's a large quantity. Even then it only takes one fingernail in the wrong spot to weaken / compromise a gasket.

It was the hose that connects the two coolant lines. The clamps were already tight but I cranked them even more and now no leak. Thanks much. I am wondering is there a flare that the clamps may need to be moved down and be over or is it just straight pipe?

I had the same issue. I ended up having the line replaced by my trans guy with a custom line he made up at the shop.

They have an updated hose that fits tighter and better material to replace the oversized rubber hose on that heater line.
