Anyone see a reason why this wouldn't work on a 2003 with a 2-piece shaft now? I'm ready!

TinBanger, was the part number you listed everything needed, or did you need to buy other parts (Ujoint etc)? How was the performance when loaded down with a trailer? Are you still pleased with the outcome after a a few months now?

If it works for your 2004.5 it should work for my 2003 (I think). I'm just tired of the vibration and as long as someone says this has worked for theirs I'm headed this way also.

I agree. I'm getting ready to do u-joints but am trying to hold off. May be the only thing wrong with mine though. Not sure.

88k on truck now. Only use truck for towing and no issues so far. I've done a few loads just at and slightly over 26k gross from FL to NJ and like I said - still no problems. Greased the u-joints 2 weeks ago and things look good. No vibration whatsoever.

For all you skeptical people out there and for those who fight with the dealer to try to get them to fix a poor design ---- its your choice!!!

Whats the opinion on the 1 piece on high hp trucks? Will the aluminum shaft hold up?I have a slight launch shudder when loaded. Its nothing bad but I'm all for better designs. My track bars should be here today so maybe that will be all I need but if not......This mod has definitely got me thinking.

Is it fair to assume that this would work on a 2003 3500 LB, 6-speed???

Just replaced the two piece with a one piece on my 06', Megacab, 4x4, auto. The part# for the auto is 52123220-AB. List price was $602, got it from MOPAR4LESS for $430 plus shipping. Next best and easiest mod on my truck since the Smarty Jr.!

MOPAR4LESS is Advantage Dodge in Farmington,New Mexico. Their phone # is 1-800-748-2139. Make sure you ask for "Internet Parts" when you call, so you get the discount. Another one is dodgeparts.com 1-800-826-8951. They are a dealer in Washington state. There are more discount online parts dealers in different parts of the country, just try to find the closes one to you to save on shipping. Another thing the parts guy will probably ask for the last 9 digits of your VIN#. You can either go to a dealer's lot or search their online inventory and find an 08' similar to yours for a # if needed. And as has been said on here before there is a notation for the the Tech that if the truck has a two piece not to replace it with a one piece due to possible interferance with the center bracket. Disregard this, all you have to do is remove {4 bolts} and leave off the bracket that holds the carrier bearing to the frame.

Will someone please measure the length of the entire shaft from where it bolts on to the differential to the front of the shaft. In this thread it mentions the length as 76" to the middle of the front ujoint. When I measure my 2-piece it is 75.5" to the middle of the large round weight right before the end of the shaft. I'm trying to go with a one piece on my 2003 but can't find any dealers in the area that have a 2008 to measure myself.

Thanks.

The overall length on the one piece shaft for my 06' auto was about 1"-1/4" shorter than the two piece. This is probably to give it some play so it can slide back and forth on the outputshaft depending on the truck's load, suspension travel, etc.. I would say you would be fine going with the part# Tinbanger gave for the 6-speed.
