What is the difference between straight #1 #2 and blended diesel fuels?

I ahve heard you shouldn't run straight #1 in your truck, is this what I have been getting at my local fuel station?

In Eastern Canada right now it is below -20. All you can buy at the pump is #1. The mileage gets worse by 2 -3 mpg. I think that in the owners manual it sais that running in teperatures below -23 celcius it is OK to run #1 diesel, and also I think the manual has a comparison of #1 to #2. The main difference that I noticed in the chart is the flash point of #1 is lower. Anyways, check you manual .
