06 radiator problem

Hey.

Not overly impressed with myself today, long story short, I screwed up my rad in my truck and now I've sprung a small leak. I have some stop leak in it right now, and it seems ok for the time being, but I realize this is only a temp fix. I priced one at the dealership here and it was over 800 CDN new, so I'm looking for other options. I'm wondering if the 03-05 radiators are interchangable? if so I'll start checking wrecking yards. Also, can I possibly get a cheaper aftermarket replacement instead of shelling out the dough for an OEM one? OR can this one be patched up at a rad shop and last?

Thanks guys for any info

Mike.

Given that you have a small leak, a radiator shop should be able to fix it easily. Even if you had a large hole in the radiator, a good repair shop could install a new core for a lot less money than a new radiator.

hi what did you do to your rad i live out in the west coast i use to live in north bay i still have brothers and sisters there i have a 06 3500 dually
black 6 speed full load i will be in north bay in aug for a wedding we are traveling to the east coast to NS pulling a 34 ft alpenlite hope you find a rad i would simply try to repair the leak if it is small instead of a new rad that if it can be repaired take it to a rad shop that is a option get there opinion

I agree with trying to get it fixed, sometimes Rad shops can also get better than OEM quality rads at reasonable prices, so that might be worth a shot too. My dad has to do a rad in his 95 so it'll be interesting to see how much the dealer is going to want for that.

O/T but it's good to see another northerner on here, not too many people up in these parts with these trucks, and if there are, they just drive em.

Thanks for all the advise guys... and I won't bring it too the dealer for something I screwed up, I wouldn't feel right about it and I doubt they would fix it anyway.
