Radiator Hose Problem?

Wondering how many, if any, have blown radiator hoses?

I remember a few high mileage members, who work their trucks hard daily, saying they had failures and recommended carrying spares....especially the lower one.

If you've had hoses break... what mileage?.... which hose?

I havent blown one but I did replace them. At around 120k I thought it would be good pm to replace the hoses. They looked ok but I thought what the heck. After I got the old ones off I was glad I decided to do it. They may have lasted quite a while longer and they may not have. I found, now I cant remember for sure but think it was the lower was very very soft. The upper was soft as well but not as bad. I replaced them all. Another that was a close call was when I took off the I think the lower pass side intercooler boot that it had almost worn through in one spot. It looked like it had been rubbing a sensor (ac I think). That one was definitely not long for this world. I never would have seen it until it blew just becasue of where the small hole was developing. It had worn through the first layer and actually had worn through the fibrous thread as it was all frayed.

Thanks Barry,
I was thinking PM also, being at 110,000 miles. Also, hard to tell how soft they are with the spring inside (the lower).

Priced them yesterday and decided to replace as well. $29.00 for both at Napa. Afterall, a spare does little good without also having a jug of coolant, and being stuck on the side of the road during the day costs money!
