06 owners, check this out, mine stranded me
63,000 on my '06 and no isuues, I do carry a spare though.
I think the problem arises when the clamps that hold the lines come loose. I go through and make sure everything is tight every once in a while.

Every time I see this topic come up I run out and double check my lines. They're always snug (thank goodness). But I'm always glad to double check. I don't have a spare in the truck. Probably should.
Shoulda just pushed the truck home - slacker.

Yeah, I would have, but I forgot to take me can o' spinach that day...
Anyway, wanted to add a little more info for anyone else in this situation. Local Dodge dealer (whom I despise anyway) wanted $75 for the part. Cummins up in Phoenix said $25 (P/N 4988808). But he also said that my local Kenworth dealer usually had at least one! Sure enough, Inland Kenworth in Tucson had one, for $26. Might pay to try the local heavy truck dealerships if anyone is getting stuck on finding this.
The parts guy at Cummins also said that he sells 15 to 20 of these a month! Yikes!! Usually the isolator in his opinion (mine was indeed loose). His advice was to clean the isolator threads thoroughly with brake cleaner, and apply liberal loctite 271 (the red stuff). Sounds good to me... with any luck there will be enough daylight when I get home for me to replace, and I'll be using the 271.
Hope this helps someone else out.

These threads about the #4 line cracking always get me in a stir for this reason...
2011 diesel jetta the wife drives. Got a recall notice in the mail talking of a #4 injector line that 'could' fail from resonance at a certain rpm or something. Called and scheduled the repair for one morning before she had to be at work was in and out in less than 30mins!!
2 weeks later I received an apology from VW and thanking us for getting the recall performed. Please find the enclosed $50 Visa gift card as a token blah blah blah....
Dodges #4 injector line issue:
It's gonna blow and we know it, we are not going to recall or even keep the part in stock. If we can find one we will gladly charge you out the butt for it and then charge you more to install if you so desire! Thanks for being a dummy and buying a Dodge!
Rant off....

I know this is an old thread but........... I had #2 line crack over the weekend, stranding me over night. The new line is shiny & different color than the old on! All my clamps & isolators were tight and in place! Truck only has 39,000 miles on it.
My question is.........should I replace all the lines with what appears to be the new style? I don't mine the cost, just don't want to get stranded again!!

Mine lost #4 very early in its life (somewhere in the 40 - 50K range). It has not had another line crack and I now have 169K miles on it. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it. If you are really compulsive you could get a #4 line and keep it with you in the truck....
Driving and noticed a power loss. Transmission down shifted in cruise on flat ground. Ran but went through 1/3 tank of fuel. Didn't notice fuel loss because none of my interior lights work (yes another problem that cropped up). When I slowed to stop and see why the power loss. The engine died and would not restart. Probably a good thing as to continue on would have dumped a lot more fuel into the engine compartment.
