06 No start today, Updated info

Drove around for a few hours today and parked the truck for about an hour. When I tried to start all it will do is crank.

Truck has been flawless for 50,000 miles.

Fuel filter changed in last 4,000.

Going to dealer tomorrow on flatbed.

I know it could be a lot of different things but it has never had a problem and no clue that it was getting ready to quit.

Have extended power train plus warranty so hopefully it will be covered.

Happened to me once. The problem was a delayed start code that came up. Well that's what the dealer said. They reset the computer and it has been starting since then.

Truck loaded on flat bed this morning and transported to dealer.

Told truck driver it was pretty sad to see a Chevrolet hauling a Dodge on it.
He replied "don't feel bad, this thing breaks down about every other day"

Will let you know outcome when I hear back from dealer.

Dealer just called and said the truck has some kind of electrical problem. They think it is an ECM since their scan tool could not communicate with the truck.

They have to look further Monday.

Did say it was covered under warranty so that is good news. Hate to see what a new one runs.

Strange how this thing just died in a matter of a few minutes of being driven and no symptoms whatsoever.

This is the original ECM that has never been updated. Truck was put in service May 05 making it one of the earliest 06's around.

Be interesting to see how all the newer updates affect it.

Just tow a small enclosed utility trailer about once a week, only weighs a couple of thousand. Looking at 5th wheels right now so that should give the old girl a workout.

What is the TIPM, have not heard that term before.

The TIPM is a fancy computer controlled fuse box, the 06+ truck have no more relays.

If the box detects a short 5 or more time i think it shutdowns so it can be sent to Chrysler so they can replace it.

Im not sure if that is exactly what happens, someone else will chime in here.

But i wouldnt worry, if the truck was running good i would think this would fix it.

i had a similar problem with my wipers and they had to replace the TIPM to fix it.

Truck is at the dealer.

I don't think the tipm is the problem since the dealer said they could not communicate the the ECM at all. Is this the case when the TIPM fails?

The truck would crank fine, just would not start.

Picked up tonight. New ECM installed and running fine.

Sounds crazy but I swear the AC feels like it is not cooling like it was before. Have to check it out further tomorrow.
