06 Grid Heater

Anybody know how to trouble shoot one of these on an 06? I've found lots on first and second gen but nothing for my 06

I have a check engine light on. I don't remember the code number but it was something about "Grid Heater Performance".

I get 12 volts to the relay, 12 volts on the relay output when the squiggly coil light is on and 11.9 volts at the heater when the light is on. I ohmed out the elements and I get .8ohms on one and 1100 ohms on the other. Both negative posts are 0 ohms to battery negative.

Should I see that much difference in the heater elements? Are they dual stage or something? What should I see?

Can you replace them individually? Or are they a set?

Anyone have part numbers or a procedure?

They are basicly 2 heaters on top of another. & should both ohm out the same. The one @ 1100 ohm's is dead. Probably cracked element.

Thanks for the info. I just pulled it out and one of the insulators on the positive terminal is burnt out. The rest of the heater is fine. Is this a serviceable part?

i think i have a grid heater for a 06 in my shop. depending where you live you probabally do not need the grid heater. most use a delete block. my 06's will start at 10 degrees below zero with out it. but pm me if you want it.
