Getting ready to take delivery of my truck this week. I've done almost all my own work on my vehicles so I was wondering if anyone has developed a spreadsheet to track the more common issues. Its 4X4 with 94,000 miles and an AT. It has spent its whole life with one owner in Texas so I'm not even sure it has a block heater installed!

Most of the info I've gathered points to front end wear and U-joints as just problematic. Anyway, I'm all ears.

Ball joints. And there is a small hose right by the turbo that is prone to leak coolant little drops at a time. Its about 11 bucks for the new hose. Other than that you should be okay. Just change all your fluids and filters. For your fuel filter use a Baldwin PF7977. Its a 5 micron fuel filter as opposed to the 7 micron Dodge will give you at their parts counter. The Baldwin is a direct fit, so no mods required to make it fit.

Thanks for the quick down and dirty. I'll probably do all the fluids and filters so I have a good baseline for future services. Appreciate the tip on the 5 mic FF too.

Check to see if its had the steering update, if not, keep a careful eye on the front suspension components.. But a SBS, its probably the best single addition I have made.. well, other than the B&W turnover hitch..
I love my truck, and apparently others do also, I'm always getting asked if its for sale..

Is the steering update a warranty item or just if you complain? BTW, what's an SBS? Yes, I'm a newbee!

it should have a block heater already installed. but you will need the cord. get it from a cummins dealer. mine was around 13 bucks, dodge dealer wanted 50.

Sur5er this is what PoorMansCat was referring too. http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/bd...tabilizers.htm
Your welcome on the 5mic FF. Its what we are here for, to help each other out! I do not have the steering updated components on my truck and have had no issues with the steering. But I also have stock lift and tire size. But that is all changing in January.

Note sure if its covered after the truck gets out of warranty??? Mine was still in warranty when I complained about it.
SBS is a Steering Brace Stabilizer. Many manufacturers produce them, mine is a BD brand... I also run stock tire size (actually still the factory tires!!!) and no lift..

AC on my 06 mega cab is the pits. Does not cool the cab.
Problems with the re-circ and blend doors. The u joints on the drive shaft went out at about 35k miles. Replaced it with a one piece aluminum shaft. Other than that it is a great truck
