04.5 fuel tank leak

I came out this morning to find several gallons of fuel leaked on the ground under the fuel tank, under the driver's side door. I can't tell where it is coming from, but it is dripping from the bottom of the fuel tank. Don't know if fuel tank is actually cracked, or line loose. Truck has 131,000 miles. Anybody seen this before?

The tanks are pretty stout, I've been on thousands of miles of gravel highways without a puncture from a rock. I would check to see if the tank came in contact with a drill bit from someone needing a few gallons for his truck. . .

Fuel Leak

My '03 dually developed a leak in the tank and when the shop that repaired it they found 3 other weak spots. Apparently between the Alaska trip and the trip from New Orleans to L.A. some rocks or debris came into contact with the tank. That's when I found out the tank was plastic, not steel. A shop took the tank off and a radiator shop actually made the repairs. Hasn't leaked since. Give the tank a good look after cleaning it off.

I saw one tank that had a seam or crack rubbed through where gravel got in between the back strap and the tank. Too bad your so far away, friend of mine has a tank from his 06 collecting dust up here.

Just talked with my mechanic and he said the leak was caused by a hole rubbed in the return line. He said it was fixed now - bill would be $130.00.
