04.5' And Cat Converter ???

I know chrysler did not put converters on the 2004 trucks. My question is with the 04.5' can we get by legally without the converter on since technically it is considered a 2004 model truck and not a 2005 ???

Thanks,

Matt

You might could... but that's one of those things down the road that they might see it's an 04.5 and see that they required only to find there isn't one on there now.

That's why I've left mine... too much hassle might come by with the dealers if something emmissions wise comes up in the next 2 years (6 if I get the extended plan later).

No, legally you cannot, because by the vin number they can tell that it is a 04.5, and the emission labels state, catalyst on them.

Now with that being said, the chances anyone caring if you have your cat or not (unless of course your state does inspections for registration), is slim to none.

My cat found a friend, and ran off one day....

As for warranty, the dealers around here cant find the keyhole much the engine or the cat for that matter.......

i agree with bubba and big red.

kind of along the same lines. i straight piped my 05 and it is no where near as loud as my 03 was. i assume that the cat is the cause of this but it is not a bad sound at all.

you be the judge. it seems to do better if you right click "save target as". it's a relatively large file (5.2MB) so be patient.

Straight Pipe Sound/Video File

I wondered if the sticker on the 04.5' had a catalyst on it or not, I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I just hate the smell of the exhaust with the cat, it doesn't even smell like a diesel.

Would it cause any mechanical problems to remove the cat?
