My Dad's 03 with 130k on it is blowing white smoke at idle. The engine can be fully warm and it still does it but it doesn't seem to do it under acceleration. Any ideas?

 

I am thinking head gasket. Is it losing coolant?

Maybe timing? Is it water vapor or fuel?

 

I doubt it's from a head gasket. You might have a leaky injector.

 

is the motor making oil??

 

A slew of us on here with 03's are having the same thing. It may be injector related but I just changed to the Baldwin PF-7977 5 micron filter and it didn't smoke this morning or today. Mine was doing it everyday all day, very little after it warmed up. I have 110k miles by the way. I would change the filter to the 7 micron by fleetguard or go to baldwinfilter.com and find a retailer for the 5 micron. I noticed the truck starts much faster by the way too. Aaron
