As far as I know the elbow will work. It is slightly larger at 4" exit so you'll need a downpipe too.

I doubt it. The SO elbow is 3.5" into the downpipe, meaning the downpipe is 3.5" as well. Once you change the elbow, you gotta change the downpipe.

You need an exhaust for a newer truck so you will get the larger downpipe. Or just try to get the bigger downpipe for your existing system. Everything else should be the same...

I too am doing this upgrade. I allready have the new elbow and am ordering a downpipe and clamp. I do remember reading somewhere you need to gring off the location pin that locates the elbow so it can be rotated slightly but it is no big deal, just not a "bolt-in" item. The pin I see is very small and would be no problem to grind off so don't be scared. I think TommyGun did a write up on this when he did his and talked about it in detail a couple years ago.

My temps dropped about 100 degrees on my 03 when i installed a 4" downpipe. I got the Banks DP which replaced the stock DP and elbow altogether..
I think you only have to grind those pins off if you are going to an aftermarket turbo. There are no pins on the exhaust side of the elbow...

As I have not done it yet I just remember Tommeygun stating he had to grind off the pin in order to rotate the elbow where it meets the turbo slightly for his downpipe angle. I will have to re-read his thread, he did a write up on the install and I think he even dyno'd his truck before and after - I can't remember.

I did not grind off the pins when I did this install. They looked like they were in the exact same place so I didn't bother with it.

Well, either way, it's very easy to cut those pins off. They just keep the elbow at the right angle to meet up with the DP. If you put it all together loosely first and then tighten it all up it will go together easily...

Just grab ahold of the pin with pliers and hit the pliers with a hammer, it pops right out,no grinding needed............
