'03 with quick 2-3 shift
'03 with quick 2-3 shift
Before i throw a new Pressure Sensor and Solenoid at the tranny in my newly acquired '03 w/ 128k on the clock figured i'd run this past you guys first.
Just bought the truck this week, have put maybe 75 miles on it. It has a Banks 6 Gun for what that's worth.
Yesterday while running an errand on lunch, the truck would not shift from 1st. I had to run it up to 3k and let off before it'd make the shift to 2nd.
Turning off the truck while i ate (20 mins or so) seemed to cure that issue, and the truck started shifting the way it has in the past for me.
However, it makes the 2-3 shift almost immediately after 1-2. Sometimes it will do a normal 2-3 but 95% of the time the shift to 3rd is right after it completes going to 2nd.
Fluid was crap. Brown and obviously broken down. I drained what i could from the ATS deep pan (8qts to refill) and it seems to have little effect. I know the rest of the fluid in the system is still garbage too, but i wasn't able to do a flush last nite when i drained the pan. I will flush it this coming week.
In the mean time, am i on the right road with the solenoid and pressure sensor? I do not know their history and i know they should be replaced at this again anyway.
Your thoughts appreciate.

tap, tap, tap....... this thing on ?
So in case anyone is listening..... On the advise of my tranny friend (works for Chrysler) he suggested i adjust the TV cable rather than replace to two parts as an attempt to cure the quick shift.
I found instructions online on how to do it, which btw were only partly helpful. Anyway, i figured out how the adjuster works and am not able to get enough tension on the cable to make much difference. I was able to adjust and get about 1/8" more pull. It may have helped, but the shift to 3rd is soft i cant really even feel it. I have to watch the tach, and at the speed it's shifting its not much of a drop.
Could a band adjustment help ?
