I have an 03 quad but it is California.

Everything was running really well up till about 10k miles. I have 17k miles on it now.

My mileage has dropped from about 16 to 13 in city and from 18 to 16 on the highway. I have tried babying the throttle (hard to do) but that really didn't help. I have replaced the air, fuel and oil filters within the last 1000 miles.

I also noticed that the temp on the enigne gauge is getting to be around 200 (middle mark) and higher.

I took it to Dodge and they connected the computer up to it. Odd but the engine was not running when he did this. Also, no fault codes but the tire size was programmed to unknown vs. what tires i do have. Everything is stock on the truck including tires. Dodge claims that my fuel mileage is high for living in Reno, NV.

Any thoughts on what is going on? I do not live in cali anymore and was thinking of putting the Banks exhaust on. Cummins says they can do a test with the injectors and see if something is fouled but of course they want money for that!!

Any ideas would be much appreciated. I am at the point of selling this truck and buying an 02 just for the mileage.

 

HMMMMMM,dunno fer sure,but ill take a wild guess.Maybe your cat is plugged,that would (i think) explain the higher temps and poor fuel mileage,since your not in CA. anymore,you might want to lose the cat.Just a thought.

 

i agree with fence builder also could be a bad injector or the computer is confused...
