0 psi fuel pressure @ wot

Just put a fuel pressure guage on my truck and I don't like what I'm seeing. about 7.5 to 8 psi at idle, 5 cruising and anything over 35 lbs of boost it goes to zero. New lift pump time ? Suggestions for aftermarket ?? I hate to go stock if I'm going to spend money.

Thanks for any input.

I was getting zero when I started to run Crazy Larry, time for a new pump alright.

Assuming you have a clean fuel filter you may need a new lift pump as you do not have enough mods to drain your supply pressure even at WOT.

it does not hurt the cp3 to run it at 0 psi and it will not lower the rail volume

If you have 0 psi at the CP-3 its lift pump time. AirDog has good prices and a decent system, as does a FASS, or you can build your own. Your choice.

If its 0 psi its enough mods. A failing LP won't supply stock fueling with enough fuel.

Uhhh, no.

Minimum 3-4 psi with stock fueling to keep from robbing lube\cooling fuel from the CP-3. Minimum 9-10 psi with mods or you are taking a chance. At 0 psi and WOT rail pressure will bounce all over the place.

You can no more run a CP-3 at 0 psi than you can a VP-44. The only difference is it will take longer to kill it, but low supply pressure will kill it and probably rail and injectors in the process.

I guess you didn't read what I wrote. If the filter is clean then it may be time for a lift pump, with a good lift pump and clean filter he does not have enough mods to drain the supply. I do not disagree that a failing pump will not supply stock demands but the first thing to action would be the filter.

I read what you wrote, then tried to discern what you meant. Was just a little unclear. The OP indicated 7-8 psi at an idle which would indicate a good filter. Running the ideas together tends to obscure the real meaning.

Just pointing out 0 psi is bad whether or not he has enough mods to drain the supply.

I put a brand new filter in when I put the gauge on...Almost wishing I would have ran it with the used filter for a test run, then put the new one in...but regardless it is a brand new filter. So, sounds like the concuring thing is my lift pump is on its way out. Any idea on how long I can milk this thing ???? Hunting season starts Saturday - not sure I can get a pump and thrash it in before friday....

Thanks for all the replies, good help !!

Just eye ball the gauge and stay out of the skinny pedal. No need to be WOT running through the woods going after Bambi. Happy hunting.

Well it's getting there pulling the trailer is my concern...It's archery season...no hunting from truck at all. Well, I guess a person could hunt from a truck, but it would be all hunting and no shooting.

I ordered an air dog 100 after having a conversation with he tech guy there. It was his recomendation given my truck use and mods. I ordered UPS blue, so hopefully I can get it installed in a couple evenings.

if your 03 still has the factory filter housing mtd pump, you should change it. the mopar conversion kit costs about as much as a good afermarket pump & is harder to install. makes sense to upgrade

You'll like the AD100. I don't think there's any hurry to do it before your trip if it only reads zero when you tromp on it, but you know better than anyone here what your pressure is like. (Just remember about the return)
Have a good trip.
