Mine cracked at about 45,000. Got the whole top replaced when I rearended someone this summer.

My crack was all the way from the windshield to the airbag. Seen a few more that way too.

My 98.5 with the tan interior and 111,000 miles is NOT cracked.
My 98 with the grey interior and 73,000 miles is cracked.

Go figure, maybe the dark interior is the issue??

Mine is cracked. I think it is where the plastic is scored from the back so it breaks easier when the the passenger air bag is deployed. It's on that side and that's what i figured, anyway. I have seen others cracked the very same place. I hate it but.......

Mine was cracked at 50K miles, no real "heat" here, at least not very much of the year. I vote for they are just crap, like most of the other interior parts on most American made cars.

My point exactly....
I paid about $180 for my Light Gray upper half... (not installed yet) if you have a red or dark Gary... its about $100 more... go figure... Mine hasn't started cracking at the air bag.. but chunks are falling out above the radio... I'm about to lose a 6in piece of the dash...

The dash on my 2001 is cracked in two places. Bought that truck used in TX. The one on my 1996, bought new in HI is fine. On the 01, I just put the dash cover from Geno's Garage over it. Not a big deal to me.

Funny you should mention

After just taking ownership of my 99 2500 (thanks dad) my dad and i noticed the dash was cracked. i found this strange considering i used to have a 91 with 230k on it and the dash looks as good as new. im happy to see someone is addressing this and as soon as i can gather the info i will send you a pm with the requested info. thanks

..

Mines cracked as well, light grey dash. Cracked around 40k mileage, lifted it up to thread the FP gauge lines and big chunks shattered off of it from the slight torque lifting it up. Live in Vancouver, Wa , not known for it's Sunny days! Anyways, I probably won't submit the info, they aren't going to fix it, but they'll be happy to give the impression they "might" just to get people off the phone. My .02

I have stopped or slowed some of the cracks by drilling a small hole at the end of the crack. I used about a 1/16th bit and drilled by hand. If you don't get the hole exactly at the end of the crack, it will continue.
