I have an 02 auto, and have owned it for 3 yrs and I am very happy with my truck. I have had very little problems with it. I had my Injection pump replaced at 85,000, I have 100,000 on it now. AS far as the auto goes, the only problem I had was the shift solenoid went out under warranty. I plan on at least adding a VB and TC to my trans when I start putting power to it. A plus about 01.5 and 02 trucks is the rear disc brakes.

I bought a 98.5 24 valve with 100k for 6,000.00 put 500.00 in repairs 2 sensors and a dynomax exhaust.in past 50k have put 4 tires on and front brakes twice as well as ball joints moog problem solvers. So since purchase I have spent 1700.00.thinking other than 53 block is a good deal I haul the snot outta it.If was me would look for most affordable in reasonable shape they all have needs its why they are used.I like the 24 valve power and would love a CRD the 89 I have just doesnt have the git up of the 98.So my .02 is look for affordable truck and do it your way.
