Would you buy it?

I was interested in purchasing a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck 4x4 Regular Cab Diesel, it has a manual transmission and about 273,626 miles on it. The dealership is asking $10,499.00, but kelly blue book says its worth about $5-6000.00. I know that regular cabs are hard to find and it has a flat bed on it. What would yall suggest? How many miles with one of these trucks go? Is kelly blue book accurate? Is their any thing special to look for?

Sounds a little pricey for the milage, flat bed and especially a regular cab. Bet the dealer only has 2 or 3000 in unit and will hold on for a hard core buyer. The milage is getting to point the body will start giving up and little worry some issues arrive. Make dealer a low ball offer and ride him on it every few days. Or better, find a lower milage unit for just a few dollars more and get happy.

I concur.... engine's ok, but the old body is going to be showing it's age.
You wouldn't believe the mark up on used..... way more profit potential in used than old. If you are going in without a trade, cash is king - set your limit and stick to it. Be very willing to walk away with out the truck and make sure he knows that - too many people make the mistake of telling the sales person that they really like the vehicle, or it is perfect, or whatever...
It was amazing how the dealer came up 5000 on the trade when I bought mine just because I made it very clear that I was walking away from his offer - I didn't even let him drag me into the bartering game.... end of the day on Saturday in slow season... he was tired too and wanted the sale.

forget the Kelly value- Kelly is the low ball book the dealers use to buy your car, Edmunds is the overpriced book they use to justify the used price on the windshield on the lot, look up the Nada- which has the value of a vehicle based on what dealers actually sell them for. National Automobile Dealers Association = NADA.

Put cash on the desk and ask them yes or no. If they say no, walk away, they will think twice as you get to the door.

Been there done that and has worked every time.

For that price the answer is NO!! They will deal, there are a lot of trucks out there. Diesel is way up and trucks are not selling like they used to.
