Worth Buying?: 1997 4x4 12valve
I was wandering if its worth buying this truck.. just wanted your honest opinion. I went and looked at it today and the truck wouldnt start unless i pressed the pedal and it wouldnt stay on without pressing the pedal. So i looked under and the elbow were the linkage atachs to the pump was loose so i tight it my hand some and the truck started and ran/idle fine to me. Then the ABS light is on along with the air conditioner doesnt seem to work on the truck. the front wheels are wearing both inner and outer sides chopping so i assume the steering systems needs some replacements.
But the guy wants $6,000.00 for it and im debating if its worth it. Also both doors the paneling has been ripped off to put aftermarket radio equipment but the doors were never put back right so the power switchs push in and out of the door along with the door is loose to pull away from the door looks like they use hot glue gun to glue it back together..

Yes, if you want a 12V, it is.
Brownie has 124K and some rust on the rockers and doors, needs an evap core ( like that truck), and I won't be taking much less than 6K for her, any 12V with only 119K on it is becoming a rarity.

sounds like a deal to me. the important stuff works: motor, trans, ect. the cosmetic stuff and evap core can be a weekend project and a trip to a salvage yard. Check the AFC housing to see if the fuel pump has been turned up, either way, it should run for a long, long time. Besides regular maintenence stuff for a truck this old, it seems the only problem is the previous owner wasnt afraid of jerry rigging. But it is a truck, not a luxury vehicle. Functionality is more important than asthetics IMO.
