1997 military aircraft tug/ dodge 12valve

just saw this in my local CR. I have never seen this before. wondering what a person could do with this. Not much of a bed but I'm sure this would have potential.

this is about 10 miles from me.

Wow, I have seen the first gen tugs, that is the first second gen.

As for what you could do with it? With those gears, top speed is something like 30 MPH ( only kidding a little )

It would probably make a really wild trail rig........

well I may call them and see what the miles are. 100% sure the thing was not abused. I wouldn't keep it in those gears. I can prob ask and get it for around 3-3500$. I talked to the neighbor across from the place this truck is at and I guess this truck has been there for years. So it sounds like they are just now putting it on the market to sell. if I can get it close to 3k$ with that low of miles I could easily part it out and make + profit . or use the motor and start building something. I want to see what axles are on that thing.

not sure what the bed is made of. if it was alum than I'm buying for sure. I can recycle that for a shiney nickel...... shhhh dont tell the wife.

Nah, I think they are steel beds, if you can get it for that price, I say jump on it, and stretch it to a shordbed 97 Cummins 4X4!

The gears are something ridiculous like 5.38 or 7.17, really ignorant for anything other than what it was designed to do.

Heck, with the Cummins, a set of 4.56's and you could easily pull the space shuttle........

I can't see the picture or the ad but I do know that aircraft tugs are very, very heavy and if they are not they add more weight, one inch thick or more steel plate is often used for the body and fenders..Something to watch for.

1997 cummins dodge aircraft tug. should get you to it if you want to look.

I was going to go look today but I got called to work. Lord I never have a consecutive days off. The life of working for the VA in a Hospital.
when i get to it I'll take a look. I would think the miles are low for the job that its set up to do.

It will probably have an hour meter and oil and filters were done on time not mileage, I know in the winter most airport vehicles diesel and gas run 24/7 or kept in a heated building.

We used to use those in the middle east a lot. Like said above, ridiculous gearing. Very bouncy... we'd 4 wheel them but they would beat us up.

well I will check it out when I'm off. In the Marines I was never really around the air "Wing" due to my MOS. The closest I ever was to any thing "Wing" related was the flight Deck on West Pac's or the to many times of getting on and fast roping out of the helo. But not bashing the Wing guys. They were always there when we needed. Like clock work.
