Worn Out Bilsteins??

Anyone replaced a set of front Bilstein 5100 shocks and seen they were clearly worn out?

Just realized I have over 90,000 miles on mine and wondering if it's time to replace?
Bouncing the front end on a CTD has never really seemed to tell me much.

I did an article in the last year about Bilstein and there poor support and customer service. Needless to say I went back to the aftermarket auto store and let them deal with it.. I went with KYB shocks and will never give them my business again....

Mine are the regular yello/bue for 2WD. Ahout 45K on them, they are still good. I have read it os hard to actually get them replaced under "Lifetime" warranty. Maybe it is the lifetime of the shock, which is now dead.
I would replace with the same, they are really good shocks for the $.
My front end does not bounce excessively, just the normal up down up.

I remember reading about your problem.
Does KYB have a front shock for 2" front lift?
Could not find any specific info on this, in a quick search.

I used KYB on a Porsche I had back in the 80's. They did ot last very long. I eventually went to Bilstein and eventually sold that car.
Do KYB's hold up any better these days?
How many of you guys run them?

I called their Sales Dept.....they do not have a specific front shock for 2" lifted CTD's!

Also, feeling a little stupid!
Reading another thread on a different subject.... I suddenly realized an easy way to test front shocks, since, as I mentioned above, trying to bounce the front end does not really work.
I just rock steering wheel back and forth at around 40 mph. This combined with trying a semi panic stop tells all!!

My Bilstein 5100's are still great at 90,000 miles.

^ watch out CRAZY North Texas driver testing shocks. I can see the front page now.

I should have another 50k before I need to do this.

Did you inspect tension/action on the fronts... after removing them?

Yup they were still good and so was the other rear one, but the fronts might i have D25 skyjacker springs which take a bit of the load off them so that might be why they were still good.
