Wiring Harness
Wiring Harness
Does anyone know if the wiring harness for the engines (gasser/CTD) can be swapped? In essence what I'm looking at doing is swapping in a CTD into a 98 360/5spd truck. Just wondering if the engine harness and computer for the CTD will swap into the 98 without removing the rest of the harness. I know that the 318/'360 harnesses can be changed, just wondering if it's the same with a CTD?
There will be other issues as well..
-Diesel springs (That Cummins is a lot heavier..)
-Fuel tank
-Fuel Lines
-Tachometer
-Computer will likely have to be swapped or reprogrammed (if that can be done ..?)
-Add extra battery
-Intercooler (possibly)
And probably a whole host of things I dont have any idea about..
Good luck though!

I was planning on just getting a guage pod from a diesel truck to take care of the tach and stuff, and a computer as well, for the heaters and such. Fuel lines and tank, I'd prolly just do a custom setup, and the batteries as well. Intercooler, I actually have one from a 97 truck, so that's not a problem. and the springs, same, that's no big deal to swap. I just didn't feel like tearing out a whole chassis wiring harness out of two trucks without damaging it. I imagine they have a main chassis harness with seperate harnesses for the guages and the engine bay. it'd be more expensive for the factory to put in two seperate harnesses from the factory wouldn't it? rather than just change the smaller components of it. I know it has an unused plug for power seats in the front, just wondering if my theory holds up.
