Windshields

How many windshields have you gone through?
I had my third replacement done on Saturday. My 99 truck only has 94 k on it and every windshield has been a target for rocks. This last one left a tiny ding just under the passenger windshield wiper. Within two hours of driving it split about halfway across the bottom.
The guy from safelite said he had done a 98 the day before and averages 3 Dodges a week.
Is it just me?

one gratuitous plug. Safelite came out to my house, replaced every sticker and patch antenna and even reset my rearview mirror. USAA paid for the whole thing with zero deductable.
Safelite is a great glass company and full glass is pretty sweet!!!

Over 250k on both my rigs, still have the original windshields but they are pitted to hill.
'03 Jeep Liberty has less than half that number of miles and has gone though six windshields.
Both my Rams have had three piece bug shields since they were new if maybe that makes any difference.

I'm on my 4th windshield now. I bought the when it was 3 years old. When the glass man (Safelite I think) did the first windsheild, he commented that the broken windshield being removed was one of theirs so it had been replaced at least once before I bought it.

Still on the original from when I got it in '05. Got a nice bullseye up by the rearview mirror about three months ago. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Its the second windshield according to the records, if they are accurate!

salt lake city is the windshield capitol of the world,in 1994 i had 5 windshields replaced on my '92 dodge due to gravel flying around from construction trucks.(no covered load law) i cannot remember how many i had before and after that year, but it has been at least one per year.........i just had the first one this year replaced last week

I'm on my 3rd, I think. Just remember, most states require insurance companies to replace windshields free if they are cracked or pitted. Costs you nothing....

How do you find out if your state requires this?

150k & on 1st windshield, 3rd VP in process, 4th steering box not counting all of the POS AGRs that crapped out, needs a 2nd dash. Love driving it, love the engine, truck build quality is the reason Dodge is in trouble.

Ask your insurance company.
In some states you can be pulled over and given a fix it ticket for a cracked windshield.
