Windshield
Windshield
On my drive home today on the highway i noticed water spraying up on to my dash. Its been raining all day thanks to Tropical Storm Gustav. As i sat forward in my seat i saw it was coming from under the windshield. so my question is has anyone had there windshield resealed and how much did it cost and who performed the work for you?
Mine was leaking at the top. Bad replacment job. $95 to remove and reseal. The tech said if it wasn't such a crummy job he would have broken the glass removing it!

Most body shops can do this, but it's usually best to go to a glass specialist. I'm having the same problem with my truck, only it's at the top by the A-pillar. I didn't notice it until I installed my commander and one day I saw water leaking out from under the A-pillar mount, took it off and sure thing water was coming in from the windshield seal. Probably sometime later this week I'm going to get a price on resealing it, and also a price on filling in all the little rock chips, it's really annoying when the suns low and catches all the imperfections just right, it's like having a dirty windshield that won't ever get clean!

mine was leaking from the top of the windshield and down the side of passenger side. we went to autozone and got some windshield "glue" or sealant, put it in a caulk gun, peeled the weaterstrip back, cleaned out some of the old glue with razor knife, filled it full of the new glue and stuck the trim seal back in. been fine ever since.
Sorry, I have been out of town. SpeedyGlass did mine, I'm not sure if they are local or nationwide.
The problem is getting out the exiting windshield. the factory sealant is just about permanent and the glass usually breaks getting it out.
Another concern is that the shop doing the work uses fresh sealant. It has a short shelflife and scumbags go around trying to sell 30 dollar expired sealant to low end shops for 5 bucks a tube. The sealant also creates the rigidity of the cab in case of an accident/rollover. Tell your window guy you want new sealant.
