will a quad cab fit where a club cab was
My 97 was rolled and needs a cab. I found a 99 quad cab. Will this fit relatively easy, or should I just try to find a club cab? I searched almost 3 years back and no one has asked this.

It fits - just get up under both and make sure the middle frame brackets are in identical location - front and rear are - you will need to swapout the entire instrument panel and wiring harness, as the 99 is semi-intelligent, totally under ECM control - been looking for a 4-door to replace my cc, just to get the additional entry convenience - and a gasser cab is identical to the Diesel cab - again, just transfer the harnesses

GMCTD, what about the heater controls, and instrument panel? I know the 97 is different, but will all that just swap out and mount up in the new cab?

Yes, you'll need to swap everything in the cab, incl the complete dash panel, because everything in the '98 up trucks is controlled by the ECM, incl the instrument cluster guages - start by dropping the steering column, then remove the screws behind the windshield, then the instrument cluster, ABS computer, the glove-box, radio, etc, so you can see the various brackets and stuff behind the dash - prolly be better to start with the '99, so you'll know what not to break on the '97 - once you get the dash out, then you can see if the ac-heater unit is same - just swap everything that doesn't look like the '97 stuff
Sounds more difficult than it actually is, but once you get moving it will go quickly - I recently swapped the complete brown interior in mine for gray, including the complete instrument panel\dash, also changing the vacuum brake booster for the hydroboost unit, so it's a chore, but worth it - can hardly wait to find a suitable 4-door cab and get started on the swap
