Where to hookup Trans Temp Sensor?

Finally getting all my gauges on the truck!

If any can help.....

Where do I hook up the trans temp sensor on the transmission.

I have a '99 3500 auto CTD.

Is it on the driver side or passenger side.

It just seems to have a few too many places to plug into but I dont want to plug into the wrong place.

Also does the trans fluid come out when I unsrew the place of mount the sensor into?

I believe the best place is the hot line to the cooler however Quad states the test port on the pass side of the tranny. After experience and readings I would go w/the hot line to ensure best results.

The sending unit I have is not an inline unit. Its a Vulcan kit Diprocol.

It must bolt on to the housing somewhere. I have 3 different size port fittings thiough just in case.

Does anyone know where on the housing it screws on to??

Do not use ay of the test ports. These may give a false reading on the guage. Also, depending on depth of the sensor and port used, you may obstruct a servo.

Best place for a trans temp sensor is in the line to the cooler. Next is the pan.

OK Max. Where do I get an inline to put sensor on. I've seen a brass in line fitting with a tap threaded hole on here somewhere.

But where can this fitting be bought. Napa? or Advance?

I think the in line on the hose is the way to go??!!On the hot line of course.

All the data forheat related oil degradation developed over the years in industrial equipment oil is related to sump temperature.

Brass fittings can be had at almost any parts place. Have to find a spot to install, then take what you have for the sensor and go from there.
