wheel bearing

so i was working on my truck today doing numerouse things to it and i left the cotter pin out of the hub nut and forgot to tighten the hub nut so i put my wheel back on and go down the road, about 200 yards down the road it stoped turning so i stopped instantly put it in park and looked out the window to the wheel was slanted i was like errr!!! so i shut it off and take it all apart right there in the middle of the road and i notice a bearing on the ground and i look at the bearing and its all torn up. my question is if the hub nut isnt tightened up would it make the bearing go out like that so fast, or is it somthing else?

I replaced my front driver bearing thinking it was bad and it ended up being the brakes. Not sure where you're located but if its the same part you can have the hub/bearing assy, just come get it or pay for shipping.

That would definitely cause the hub assy to rip apart. Those hub bearings are extremely weak, the worst idea Dodge ever went with, and since most of them when you do pull them off, are stuck to the axle spline, with that nut being loose, and allowing the hub to vibrate as the wheel turns, it would rip that bearing out quick.

The axle nut holds the bearing together.
