What tire size??

What is the largest tire size I can put on my '02 2500 4x4 and not rub?? I'm running 265/75/R16 now with 4.10 gears and want something a little taller to drop a few RPMs.

Thanks for the help

Re:What tire size??

I have 305/70R16 on mine. I had them on before I put on the leveling kit, and they would only rub on a tight turn. They don't rub at all with the leveling kit on. I've heard of people putting 315/75R16's on without a lift, but i've not done it myself, so I don't know if they'd rub or not. Seems to me like they would.

Re:What tire size??

I've got 33's on my '99 (actual height is supposedly 32.5&quot with zero rubbing. You should be able to fit 285/75/R16 (~32.7&quot without any problems also.

I got 315's, but i lifted the truck 2" in the front with very little rub and they really look the best.

Re:What tire size??

With the stock wheels and a 2 inch front lift you will rub on the control arms at full steering lock.

I got aftermarket rims with less backspace and my 315's with a 2 inch spacer rubbed on the rear inside of the fender when turning, but no control arm rub.

4.5 inch lift cured all rubbing problems. ;D

Going to get 37 inch tires next time around, the 315's (35 inch) look small now.

Re:What tire size??

I would look into the 255/85/R16 tires. They are about 33.5" tall and 10" wide. They fit stock wheels great and do not rub at all. These tires are tall and narrow and look great IMO.

Phox,
My 36x14.5's on 16.5 x 10 wheels rub a little with that same lift.... MAYBE the 37's won't as they are usually narrower than the 36's but ???
I also have the tabs trimmed back at the bottom of my fenders. Something to think about before you go 37....

Re:What tire size??

I ran 315's on my 99 2500 for 3 years, I had no problems. They would rub when 4-wheeling hard. If you would turn real sharp and hit a bump they would rub also. Not very much though. I had to run the stock wheels. The after market ones available at the store I was at would make the wheels rub bad. If you have aftermarket wheels they need to have to same measurments as the stock one's.

I'm runnin' 285/75's on both my 1500 w/ custom rims and 2500 w/ stock rims n' will get a rub on a very tight turn, but overall I luv 'em...just my two cents worth. ;D

Someone in another forum posted they had no probs runnin' 315/70's... :-

Since I took the front bumper off and replaced it, my tires look like they are way back in the fenders now.
I'm thinking of getting a little longer control arms to push them back to center, then I shouldn't have a problem with the 37's.
I won't do what I did last time and just assume something will fit, based on others experiences.
I'll make them let my try before I buy.

Just eyeballing it, it looks like I have plenty of room for the 37's though.

Thanx for the heads up, I'll keep it in mind.

Re:What tire size??

I have the same effect with my bumper... Longer control arms eh? I might have to look into that if I don't do the air lift.

Good thought train Phox!!!!
